^* N = all samples were HCV-RNA-positive. Also, 1 control and 4 diabetic patients were HCV-RNA-negative by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Diabetic versus local population: Fisher’s exact test using the Bonferroni adjustment for multiple comparisons. Genotype 2a was detected in the mixed samples of one of the diabetic patients but none of the control patients.
