He has extensive experience in the treatment of HIV-viral hepatitis coinfection. Dr. Kostman has conducted multiple clinical trials in the area of HIV-HCV coinfection including the first large multi-center trail of combination interferon/ribavirin therapy of which he was principal investigator. More recently, he has ben an investigator of the first trial of boceprevir in coinfected patients, and is collaborating with immunologists at the Wistar Institute studying the role of the innate immune system in the control of hepatitis C virus infection.
